dear mr. bluesrocker,
is the voice teacher you are working with a classical singer and teacher?
if so, it is unlikely, as this teacher has already labeled you a
'baritone', that he/she (?) will even consider helping you towards what you
want to do. classical teachers have very restrictive ideas of what each
voice type is capable of so, if you have already been discouraged, that may
be why.
