I'm singing this aria from John Glen Paton's collection. He provides a word
for word translation, which is somewhat awkward but does convey the meaning
of the text.
ms. 1-3, 4-6: let me die
ms. 7-10: and what do wish you that me should comfort
ms. 11-14: in such hard fate, in such great martyrdom.
ms. 15-..:let me die.
