I thought I'd share with you what I ended up choosing for my offertory solo
this Sunday morning.
Since our processional and recessional have been switched to a couple of our
more patriotic songs (Star Spangled Banner & America the Beautiful), I chose
an arrangement of The Lord's Prayer by Ned Rorem. I felt that a more
soothing, thought-provoking piece might be more effective given all the
other patriotic music being done. And the fact that it's a familiar and
comforting text set in a mostly unfamiliar way will hopefully fit the bill
nicely.
And it doesn't hurt matters that I love music by Rorem to begin with!
