This one is apparently not a hoax. The 'text' content is Visual Basic Script. The damage occurs if you run or launch the text file in your email client. (you may see .vbs at the end of the file name).
If you use a 'viewer' or go to the actual file ('detaching' it if your emailer has such a command, if not the default is to store the attachment as a file) and use a text editor (such as notepad, wordpad) to view it, it will not run the script. Still, the safest action if you receive this is to delete the file and the message.
You should never automatically launch attachments or have your emailer set to do so.
