But the thing is: I agree with what LLoyd wrote :)
If I understand Lloyd correctly, he says that mixing the registers in
his opinion is a useful pedagogical concept EVEN THOUGH the vocal
folds cannot vibrate in two modes at the same time.
He ends his post with the following sentence:
"The concept of "mix" is necessary but the understanding of what
actually happens physically while utilizing "mix" is not often given
necessary consideration"
