Yes, you're right. The song is called "The Serpent". Sorry about that. I'm going to chalk that one up to "pregnancy brain"! hahaha.

Also look at 13 Songs by Hoiby. There are at least 2 I can think of on William Blake poetry that will have the qualities you described. "Where the music comes from", from the same collection, is always a real crowd pleaser.
How about some Paul Hundley? One piece in particular, called "Come ready and see me", is also very "accessible".
Also, I think the Hoiby piece about the snake is titled "The Serpent". It is indeed very funny and fun to sing. There is a lot of fun stuff for the pianist as well in this one.
Also, I think all of the folk songs arranged by Roger Quilter are simply lovely.
