"Dank sei dir, Herr" from volume 3 of the Handel 45 arias (International
edition) can be a very effective opener. I think it is no longer regarded
to be by Handel, but it's still a gorgeous piece.
If you prefer something that moves more quickly, how about the Alleluja
from Esther (Handel), also in volume 3.
There is a ton of repertoire that is good for beginning a recital, but
Molly if you give us more information about what you want, we can make more
informed suggestions!
