As far as I know, they usually send out flyers to universities, etc. -
that's how I heard about it! I heard that next year they are going to do be
doing some lieder, and that sounds rather exciting!
Also - Songfest takes place at Chapman university in Orange (I think it's a
small Christian school). They have their professional program, which I was
a part of, and a program for younger students - I think ages 16-21 or
something like that. This young artist program works on opera scenes, in
addition to masterclasses, and the students also get a couple of private
lessons - I understand it's also a lot of fun! Many people audit Songfest
as well - and they have a rate for auditors. There was quite a lot of rep
to learn, but I think one can ask to sing/play less - or one can audit the
program.
