Wim:

There will always be confusion if words which describe the sound of
the register become synonymous with words the describe the actual
function of the register phenomena.

Chest voice is active vocalis; head voice is inactive vocalis; mixed
voice is the transition between active vocalis to inactive vocalis or
vice versa

Heavy registration is active vocalis; light registration is inactive
vocalis; change from heavy registraton to light registration is the
transition between active vocalis to inactive vocalis or vice versa.

Given the above it would not be possible to even consider mixing
chest voice with head voice orheavy registration with light
registration except in the "in between" zones, that is, the
passaggios.
