Actually, I would consider that a benefit. You will be around
other "serious voice students" and maybe get a feel for where you
really are. Be aware, however, that in the grand scheme of things,
NATS matters very little. It can also be political, and big schools
can often "carry the day" by sheer weight of numbers present.

Remember, NATS is the TEACHERS organization. In our region, at least,
the teacher's name gets read right along with the students come
announcement time. I think for this reason, many teachers take NATS
WAY TOO SERIOUSLY! It reminds me of dog shows. The dogs don't care
who wins, but boy the owners do!

Accept NATS for what it is: a chance to be critiqued, to meet and
hear other singers, and to compete against singers your own age. Good
