First of all, I want to thank all of you for your ideas and suggestions. I will try my best to understand them.
I am a 18 year-old tenor and I just love singing opera. I never had a lesson before but somehow I learned alot by reading and listening to CD's, and chatting online. In any rate, I have asked my friend before on singing [i], and he agreed with me that it's harder than other vowels. As for me, I need as much effort to sing an [i] vowel at G as an AH/EH at high A.
Someone mentioned high larynx problem. I do have such problem, and I think that is what prevents me from singning higher. My question is that does larynx ever move up even when singing a High C, or it's allowed to move up when singing any note above the second passage point (G for lyric tenor). One of the solutions that I come up with is to practice more and more. I remember once someone asked Pavarotti what was his secret of having a seamless passaggio, and Pavarotti said to him: "Ten years."
I will keep singing and practicing. I will be in college this fall so at least I can find a teacher. I know that many of you are professionals and I feel honored to share my experience with you.
Regards, Richard
