If you taking it for lessons or just playing why make a WAV file at all. Just play the MIDI and tape it.
I make WAV files from MIDI and other sources using Cool Edit Pro by Syntrillium. You can get a demo copy of Cool Edit from their website. Most don't need "pro" unless they plan on doing studio recordings and making CD's. All our pre mastered CDs are made using Cool Edit. http://www.syntrillium.com/
