there is something that i have seen attributed to both beethoven and goethe (i suspect it is the latter) and unfortunately, i only remember the gist of it (i'm usually even less helpful). copies of the quote were handed out by an opera director i had worked with (john haber) before the performance of the first opera i had worked on with him.
the idea is that when we commit ourselves fully to something, doors we never knew about open up to us and help comes from unexpected directions. hopefully, someone else on the list will be able to identify this quote for both of us.
another quote i like is from the movie 'breaker morant', "live each moment as if it were your last and one day, you're sure to be right".
