Hi Leslie,
THe Michael W. Smith song is not THAT bad........just way overdone. And,
at least she isn't asking to do the graduation song by "Vitamin C". One of my
students wants to do that one. LOL. Pop music's answer to
sprechstimme.......or more aptly called, RAP! AHHHHHHH.
If it's a Christian group she is focused on, she could do something from
Rachael Lampa or Stacey O'rico, Jaci Velasquez (there are some good songs on
her newest release Crystal Clear), or there is some cool songs on Natalie
Gran'ts newest release. Just a head's up with these artists........the trend
is to pull chest like crazy and then flip into falsetto in the upper range.
You will need to help her a little to not copy their style but do her own in
a more balanced registration. SHe should be able to go to any Christian Book
store and listen to these before she buys the tracks.
