I tried desperately to explain that to my first driving teacher, who was
using the argument in the opposite direction to me when I was a nervous
learner. I ditched him after failing my first test. My second teacher
told me, just before I passed, that he thought I waould be a smashing
driver (that _might_ not mean the same in "your" English of course!) -
luckily I haven't lived up to this prediction :o)
