True. I'm sorry to say that I made some rather unkind remarks about our
Pinkerton, who missed the first dress rehearsal. The next day, I learned
that he had been injured (only slightly, thank G*d Jehovah Krishna Allah
Dionysus whoever) in a car accident on the way to the rehearsal.

And the boorish baritone described by the original poster was probably A)
incredibly insecure and B) suffering from major stage fright.

(At least, that's what my dear mother would say.)
