There are some rock bands, mostly European ones, that have a big influence from classical music. I'll list some artists and bands with that influence:
1. Angra ( Brazilian band singing in English ) 2. Rhapsody ( Italian band singing in English ) 3. Symphony X ( Progressive band from Miami ) 4. Yngwie Malmsteen ( guitar player ) 5. Luca Turilli ( guitar player from Rhapsody- solo project ) 6. Ayreon ( experimental prog rock band ) 7. Within Temptation 8. Nightwish ( 7 and 8 are both bands with opera-like female singers ) 9. Therion 10. Royal Hunt 11. Stratovarius
They're all heavy metal bands with more or less classical influence.
If you want to do something even more exotic, we have these musicians in Brazil whose work is mostly instrumental and has classical influence too:
9. Antonio Nobrega 10. Geraldo ( Mendes ? ) 11. Hermeto Paschoal 12. Marcos Viana ( solo or on Sagrado Coracao da Terra )
