Subject:  Announcement from UNT


The University of North Texas College of Music is pleased to announce
that Dr. Stephen F. Austin will be joining the Division of Vocal
Studies beginning in the Fall semester of 2001.

Dr. Austin has been on the faculty of Louisiana State University and
is an internaionally recognized figure in the fields of vocal
pedagogy and voice science. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from
Howard Payne University, the Master of Music degree from the
University of North Texas, where he studied with the late John Large,
and the PhD from the University of Iowa where he worked with renowned
voice scientist Ingo Titze.

Dr. Austin will be teaching applied voice and undergraduate and
graduate vocal pedagogy courses. The University of North Texas offers
vocal pedagogy as a "related field" on the Master of Music and Doctor
of Musical Arts Degree.
