Subject:  Re: "Excerptable" Puccini for bass and mezzo

The "Crucifixus" from his very early "Messa di Gloria" (he was 18) is
for low bass, although in somer performances the entire bass section
sings it.

I've never heard it excerpted, but Timur's solo after Liu's death in
Turandot is very nice.

BTW, can' the "Madrigal" from Manon Lescaut be excerpted for Mezzo?
BTW, it is the same music as the "Agnus Dei" from the "Messa di
Gloria" (where it is a charming Tenor/Baritone duet.)

Can't "Son Pochi Fiori" from L'Amio Fritz be done by a high mezzo?
It's pretty "Puccini-esque."
