Subject:  steamers

I am recovering from what my doctor told me was a viral cough, described
as tracheitis, and resulting in laryngitis as a result of the stress the
coughing was causing my larynx. When it started it was a very productive
cough, now my windpipe is feeling cold and dry with every breath I take
in (though the cough is still frequently productive when it feels like
it!) I have to start back at school (I teach music in class in a UK
primary school, ie. 5-11yo) imminently or there may be a health issue as
to whether my voice is going to be robust enough to carry on with the
work, notwithstanding my glowing commendations for the teaching itself
:) :) :(

My question is this: I have bought a small steamer which consists just
of a cup with a cap over the top which fits neatly over the mouth and
nose - not to be confused with a facial steamer. Can this be anything
other than completely beneficial? I do feel much more comfortable for a
few minutes after using it, though I have to say at the moment that the
effect seems to have worn off after a short while. How often should I be
using this?

cheers,

Linda
