I'm in ninth grade and take chorus/choir at my high school. We learn a lot
of technique considering that it's only a 50 minute class. We warm up every
day and learn a lot about posture and breath control. We also sing all
styles of music, form pop to gospel to songs in other languages such as
German, French, and Italian. I've also participated in our school swing
choir and college honor choirs that I tried out for through my school choir.
For the honor choir tryouts I practiced after school one-on-one with my
teacher and recorded an audition tape. I think the quality of the choir
depends on what school you go to, because my best friend goes to a different
high school and her choir isn't even near as good. I think that any high
school choir is better than none and can be a very rewarding experience.
I've met all of my best friends who also sing through my high school choir,
swing choir, and honor choirs.
