Hello all,
As many of you are preparing or are teachers of students who are preparing for graduate school auditions, I thought that you would be a good resource to discuss appropriate repertoire for such auditions.
I am auditioning for several Opera Theatre programs throughout the US. The standard audition consists of 5 arias (German, French, Italian, English, and one more in any language). As it stands, these are my selections:
Italian (2): "Come Scoglio" from Cosi fan Tutte "Donde Lieta" from La Boheme (or Mi Chiamano Mimi??)
German: 'Dich theure Halle" from Tannhauser OR "Verfuhrer! Warum stellt ihr" so from The Merry Wives of Windsor
French: Micaela's aria from Carmen
English: The Trees on the Mountain from Susannah
I have some time before my auditions and want to be sure that my line up is considered both appropriate and competitive. I would conceiveably be able to learn new repertoire (the Merry Wives of Windsor and The Trees on the Mountain are both fairly new).
Please feel free to reply privately. I would appreciate any help you could provide!
