I read with interest the various posts about photocopying, copyrights, etc. As an accompanist, I find that not only keeping the original book open on the music stand, but also the page turns, are a massive problem. The page turns often seem to come at the worst possible spots. I often have to photocopy the music and even reduce it to keep page turns to a minimum. For choral music that was many pages and kept both hands so busy that there was no way you could turn the pages, at times i have made a copy and then cut and pasted the accompaniment, minus the choral parts, (perhaps leaving the text) on new pages to reduce the number of pages.
Besides, I always had the understanding that the copyright laws allowed for copying for the express purpose of facilitating page turns.
I don't like to rely on the use of page turners more than necessary. Besides, even if you have a page turner for the performance, you have to find a way to practice the music, when you don't have a page turner!
