For the rock-bottom, deeply-cheaply method for those who can't afford the dentist (and just TRY to get your dental insurance to pay for the appliance!), go to a sporting goods store and buy a sports mouthguard. They cost maybe $5USD. (Boxers' mouthguards are a dandy help for back-sleepers whose jaws slip back and cause apnea, too.) Cut off the strap which is built to hold it to your football helmet, follow the directions to form it to yourself using hot water, and voila! The Bargain Basement Bite Guard.
