Dear Carol and all,
As far as tips to getting started - I can give very few as yet as I have not entered the field yet, but am getting ready to do a Demo Tape.

I would contact the TV and Radio Stations. Look in the Yellow Pages for Talent Agencies. If there is any TV/Film Production in your city find out if there is any sort of Film Industry Digest (like 411 in LA, The Hollywood Reporter Blu Book, Reel West Digest in Vancouver, etc.)
If there is an Entertainment Newspaper in your town look in there. Talk to people. Network. Just like you should do when you are looking for a new job.

I will let you all know of my progress in getting into this field. There is a lot of money to be made in Commercial Voice-Over, Character Voice work for Cartoons etc. There are a lot of Cartoons coming out of Vancouver right now.
