Try me at trenymusic-at-aol.com

First, get an excellent demo tape together. This may cost alot up front, but in the end it pays off. You would want to do 'jingle' type songs. Make it no longer than 3 minutes. If you could make a CD, that would be even better. Try to include some voice over stuff as well. (Get ads from
magazines) Then after you have finished your demo and feel that it's the VERY BEST you could offer, it's time to start selling yourself to local studios. Many are listed in the phone book, but if you have difficulty finding some, contact ad agencys to see who they use. If you could deliver
the tapes in person, that makes a better impression. Also ask friends if they do studio work and see how they got in. Be patient but also be persistant. It's just like everything else you do. If you really want it, be willing to work for it.

As far as perfecting your voice -- start by recording your voice with a boom box to get your ear accustomed to hearing different styles. Try character voices, play with styles, but always remember technique. make sure you are singing correctly.

I hope this helps. I'm willing to answer any other questions you may have.

Happy Holidays,
Jennifer Fancher
