It's hard to take enough liquid to get the same dose that's in the pill. Plus there's some water in the liquid (duh) so it takes less of your body's water to get into solution. The chemical attracts water into the mucous, as I mentioned, so you have to drink alot of water to supply it's 'thirst'.
