Hi!

I am a Belmont graduate. I was so excited to hear about this. I have not studied one on one with Dr. Zielinski, but I did learn all my diction and pedagogy from her. I learned alot from her pedagogy class. I have had friends who experienced a bit of competition from her. This blocked their
learning from her. She is not the most congeil person, but if it is technique she's wanting to learn, by all means take from her, but if she wants to learn diction or repetoire, I suggest Majorie Halbert at Belmont. I took from Dr. Keith Moore ( CCM grad) and learned so much. He is in charge
of the opera program at Belmont. There is another woman in Nashville who is not affiliated with Belmont. Her name is Marcia Thom - she does alot of work with Nashville Opera. Belmont is not known for their classical program. They are a big recording industry school (go figure - Nashville).

I hope this was of help. If you have any other questions let me know. I would love to help out. You can give your friend my email.

Let me know how it goes.

I have a dear friend who is a very good singer who wants to get her voice back into shape after taking a few years off. She is interested in finding out any information about Dr. Shirley Zielinski at Belmont in Nashville.

Does anyone have any first-hand experience with her or her students? My friend would love to get some feedback on her approach and teaching style.

Thanks,

Sally Mir
