I too have experienced similar at times during my studies at music college. But maybe this tale will give you some hope: I recently sang in an oratorio class and the teacher ripped me to pieces. She said I had no technique and that the song was totally wrong for me. I had been having a rough time and wasn't at my best health wise, but this really knocked me down, as I had tried SO hard. However, a few months later I performed the role of Monica from Menotti's "The Medium" at college and the same teacher came to watch. She approached me afterwards and unashamedly took back everything she had said that day in the class. She apologised and said she was wrong, and that I actually did have an excellent technique and a lot of power. You can imagine how good it felt to hear that! What I am trying to say is perservere and stick at it. One day you will get the recognition you deserve and then you will feel fantastic! We are all behind you, I'm sure the rest of the list agree, and it would be such a shame to give up now. By the way, I also feel you should see about changing to a different teacher. Making the decision to move to another teacher may be the best thing you ever do. I hope everything works out for you. >From Sara.
