Great question. Vocology is a relatively new term meaning "study of the voice". Thus, a vocologist is any person who is specialized in voice, including voice disorders and their management. A vocologist may be a speech-language pathologist, an ear-nose-throat physician, or a voice teacher or coach.
I believe the term has its origins here at The University of Iowa, where we've developed specialty training in voice within our speech-language pathology master's program.
