Perhaps I am missing something, and since there are no quotes with your post
to indicate which technique you are referring to, I am clearly confused -
can you explain what technique you are talking about?

Also, again, maybe I'm missing someting without quotes to give a context,
but "just singing as loud as you can" isn't necessarily such a good idea
(depending, of course, on the circumstances) and as far as I know singing
loud doesn't expand one's range and can damage one's voice if done
improperly.
