Hi Al,
I respect your opinion, like I do everyone else on this list. However, I remember serveral postings a few months ago concerning opinions about opera singers (Charlotte Church springs immediately to mind)and a few broadway singers (ditto Bernadette Peters) and I didn't see any postings complaining about those entries. Again, I didn't see any previous postings taking jibes at listers young age. I hope you, and other listers remember that we are all of different ages and musical backgrounds here and we all have different musical tastes.
Yvette-at-IDGCPA.com >> .................. Yes, but Yvette, what we DID get with all the posts on Charlotte Church was a discussion of vocal technique, which is one of the main aims of this particular list. I don't see the teeny-boppers mentioning jaw tension, pushing, evening out the register break, breath support, or any other significant subject fit for discussion on Vocalist. That's what we have come to expect from this list--isn't that the reason it was established? Age is not the issue--content is. There are plenty of young people on this list who ask thoughtful questions and have helpful comments to make, too. But it is helpful to no one to say, over and over, "oohh, yeah, I just love __________ don't you?" Al is right in saying there are other places on the Internet where people can and do make posts of that sort.
Elise Curran ps apologies if this has been addressed previously--catching up on my mail!
