Thankfully, some people are still capable of putting wonderful, unexpected music in their weddings, and its amazing the difference it makes. A friend of mine who sings with the Washington Bach Consort got married a few months ago. He had a Bach cantata with soprano and string quartet (or maybe quintet) spaced out over the course of the ceremony, along with a few nice, simple hymns and two choral pieces which were brief, interesting, and really a pleasure to sing. No wedding march, either - no offense to Mendelsohn, but it was a very nice change... Of course, people should have whatever music they want at their wedding, but usually it conflicts with my own personal tastes (big surprise there).
By the way, thanks for the responses regarding Chicago music stores. I'll take a look in the Fine Arts Building, sounds like a good bet...
