I didn't see the program on TV but I know about Julie's talent when she was a youngster. I have
heard her sing at that age and wished I lived in England so I could work with her sometime. She had
excellent teachers and a good vocal coach. Charlotte, on the other hand, had no formal training
until she was picked up by Sony. All her 'training' was in school and singing along with the
radio. That way she had the opportunity to pick up all the bad habits of others without knowing
they were bad. I was happy to hear that the Sony people found a voice teacher for her who could
help her get rid of poor technique. Whether that will happen or not I haven't a clue. I have seen
no real difference in her habits since her first appearance on TV but I know how difficult it is to
break a habit. For teenage girls who tend to copy other singing styles from the cradle it is
especially difficult.

I read comments from people who say she is being exploited because she's a kid. I do not exploit my
kid singers and have no reason to believe Charlotte is treated that way. However, if after another
year goes by and she has not conquered her chin wobble and several other technical problems I might
have to agree.

It is so easy to judge others by our faults and I find whenever I put a kid on stage I get a lot of
flack from the uneducated about how I am exploiting the kid. But I have watched Charlotte and
talked with her and listened to her and I do not notice this. She is delightful to watch and speak
to and she has so much fun singing on stage that I tend to believe she's being treated very well and
looked after. But time will tell. Let's give her another year before we launch another public
outcry.
