This reminds me of a story I was recently told by the Artistic Director of the Skylight Opera (Richard Carsey--who is too terribly funny, and tells the story so well I can't possibly do it justice).
A couple of years ago, he was conducting (don't remember the show), on his little platform (the pit is recessed under the stage). Halfway through act 1, he felt a little tug on his sleeve WHILE HE WAS CONDUCTING. When he could, he turned around. A very tiny, very elderly lady said, "Excuse me, could you not raise your arms up so high?"
