Dear all,

One day, several years ago, I remarked to a college music chair that I often had some of my breathy
singers speak like bugs bunny and sing as if bugs could sing. I have had them quacking and sing
while quacking and laughing and doing some rather odd things to rid them of airyness. He was
outraged and told me in no uncertain terms that I was doing a terrible thing and if he heard that I
continued in such practices he would expose my antics to the world. No, I didn't tremble in my
boots due to a background of success with these crazy antics but I didn't talk about them anymore to
'outsiders.'

Two days ago I received a letter from a 15 year old which made me laugh and cry at the same time.
She said, in part, "I am seeking a manager for my singing career. I am not quite perfect though I
am near, have never taken a voice lesson in my life, but I know everything there is to know about
the voice."

Whew! Now there's someone I would like to meet. 15 and perfection already. Wow!

Then yesterday I read a lot of listings here and learned that I was not the only crazy voice teacher
on the planet having students quack themselves into a better voice. I wrote back to the godly 15
year old explaining that I was still learning about the voice even after 56 years of singing and
teaching and that I thought it was amazing that she could know it all when I and fellow listers were
still struggling.

Anyway, this is a thank you for sharing information which I have either forgotten or have not known
before as I am still in my learning stage. I believe if and when I know everything there is to know
about the human voice God won't let me live here anymore.

So keep teaching. I'm listening!
