Dear Todd and list,

I purchased a minidisc recorder in March of '99. I can say that it is
an amazing piece of electronic equipment. It goes everywhere with me- to
lessons, concerts, class lectures. It has been a valuable tool for
learning, as well as an outlet for making some extra money by recording
audition tapes and recitals. The model I have is the Sony MZR55. However,
the minidisc player is NOT nearly as important as the mic you purchase.
Myself and one of my techy friends tested about eight mics in the store
while hooked into the MZR55. Hands down, the audio-technica AT822 stereo
mic delivered the finest quality sound. Since I purchased the minidisc
player I have seen that same mic used in numerous professional recording
studios and universities.
Good Luck,

Taylor Ferranti
