Hi list, I was invited to sing as a guest artist in "Pink champagne" an
adapation of Johann Strauss' "Die Fledermaus" last month.
The producer insisted on a song from the "Gypsy baron" --- "Als
flotter Geist"as she felt it fitted in with the period.The english
translation of the song "An Orphan from my early days"---
is awful I found it very difficult to learn in the two weeks I had
to prepare , perhaps the fact that I was trying to give up the
fags at the same time did'nt help.As i am bass they took it down a tone,
still a hard song to sing as the words are nonsensical.
Are there any other translations of this song.
I sang it for four nights, flubbing a line a night for the first three
nights, and finally got it right on the last night, had to my severest
critic,my wife was there
