My husband was called "South Africa's own Victor Borge" in one of the
write-ups.
The programme consisted of original material ,short sketches and songs
taking the mickey out of classical music, e.g How Beethoven found his Fifth,
Bach in a Minuette (to the tune of...) How to bake a Sonata, an Oraltorio,
and then also some more serious and very beautiful vocal numbers, and of
course, the Cat's Duett.
If you think of Anna Russell, P D Q Bach, Victor Borge,Hoffnung, etc, it
should give you an idea of the content.
We tend to call any kind of show that loosely strings together vocal items
"Cabaret" when it is performed in an intimate surrounding.
