In am a dutch tenor, although every tenor the first years of studying is left
in the dark about his real identity.
The energy of wondering what you are takes much efford, you can also use in
concentrating on finding the equilibrium in your body and breathing
needed to know you are not faking voices, but using your own.
I dont think your register is telling anything of what you are. I only tells
what shows now.
My experience is that your speaking voice (how high or how big) will have a big
impact on your
untrained singing voice.
For example in Holland men are used to speak rather low in their register and
the voice is not placed
in front of the mouth (unlike for example Italian). This means the ttenor voice
has to be trained specially when it is
a bigger then usual voicetype.
Breathingwas a key for me: after taking Alexander lessons with a singing
alaexander teacher I for the first time good sense my real voice without
faking.
Of course by useing different projection you should be able to change the
sound, more head, more brest.
Most tenorlines have a two octave dimension: onthe the G-key of the tenor: b
(under the lowest line)-b (above the highest line). You should be able to sing
those two actaves with your (mixt) brest voice without problems.
In your head /falsetto voice it is very handy to have an octave or two above.
You then should be able to sing woman alto lines up to around the -c- on the
normal G-key.
If you mean that you have to change your brest to head/falsetto around d then
this not very high for a tenor, but training will certaunly change this
changingpoint.
The only advice wich I wuold give you is: dont let anyone mark you, search for
teacher who give you the space to develop and not wanting to score with you,
never sing to difficult peaces to high and concentrate on breathing and
musicality for fnding your identity in singing. Furthermore: tenors are rare,
every teachter dreams of a heldentenor as a student, therefore watch out for
developing your fake tenor voice.
