Chamber choirs are usually small in number, and solo voices DO stick out - but it's not an insult to be too loud! Rather, I'd think of it as a compliment. For myself, I've found singing in choirs to be deleterious to my voice, because the things I have to do in order to blend (reduce volume & cut out vibrato) are very uncomfortable and interfere with my solo singing. Perhaps not being in this choir will turn out to be a good thing in the end, because you won't be developing any bad habits in order to blend that are hard to break later.
>i do > believe i have a better voice than the majority of those people > in chamber > choir. a lot of them were picked on account of favortism...okay
This may very well be the case (although blending concerns may be a bigger reason on the part of the director) - unfortunately favoritism is a big part of life. I've experienced it with getting parts, jobs (of the non-music variety), and in other areas. It is annoying and sometimes painful, but it's one of those things you have to learn to deal with somehow. I find that a good rant with a close friend usually helps me get over it. BTW, I don't think of your post as whining - it can help to vent!
If singing is something you really want to do (and it sounds like you've got the voice for it :o), then disappointment and rejection will be part of the package, and you'll have to decide if the rewards outweigh the downside.
Good luck,
Jennifer
