Back in 1995, a couple of my teachers at my college did a parody thing of The Impresario. They were two sopranos fighting for lead roles in Die Fledermaus, and would sing these horrible insults at each other. It was absolutely hilarious! Best of luck to you in creating new "perspectives" on vocal music!

I've thought of doing something like this with Victor Herbert's song "Art is Calling for Me," with another soprano friend. If well staged, we were hoping to make it a kind of "duel" too - topped with cadenzas (in appropriate and not appropriate places), and maybe some interjected lines that are spoken as the other soprano is singing..... Right now it's just a thought though!
