Ok. First of all you can get lots of information about this program through the web site. (www.bu.edu/sfa/affiliated/buti)
Its good stuff! The programs that they offer are: The Young Artists Vocal Program The Young Artists Orchestra The Young Artists Piano Proagram The Young Artists Wind Ensemble The Young Artists Composition Program and a bunch of ther seminars for specific instruments.
Its an incredible program aimed towards gifted students ages 14-18. The students study with members of the music faculty of boston university and have masterclasses with reknowned tanglewood-ites such as Phyllis Curtin. The vocal program, specifically, is designed to be very similar to an experience in an undergraduate music school (without all those annoying liberal art requirements). Voice students attend daily voice class with Phyllis Hoffman and daily chorus rehearsal with Dr, Ann Howard Jones. The rest of the curriculum consists of classes in music history, theory, diction, movement, and preparing opera scenes to be presented at the end of the six weeks. They also work with priovate teachers and coaches. Honestly, there is no program that nurtures the young voice quite like the vocal program at the BU Tanglewood Institute. About $$$$...... Yeah its pricy, but they are generous with financial aid.
If you have any other specific questions about the program, please dont hesitate to ask!
