Hello everyone:
I know that these probably aren't VOCALIST topics...but I thought I would post them anyway, because I don't have any other place to get my answers from. So I have a few questions for you...maybe some of you could answer them for me.
1) I'm interested in going on a foreign exchange. I'm a high school student, 16 and HEAVILY into music. I would really, really love the chance to go on an exchange to study music. I'm living in Canada, and I know there are some programs out there for americans. I was wondering if anyone knows of any programs for students interested in going to a foreign country to study music for any period of time, up to a month. I'm mainly interested interested in studying voice. I would be interested in any European country, especially France, and Italy...But if there are any exhange programs you know about that are in the United States or Australia, or any other country for that matter, PLEASE let me know..any help would be appreciated.
2) Also, I'm currently taking voice lessons, but I have a little problem...I don't really have anywhere to practice...I can practice at home, but it is really busy here, and I can't really get any quiet time to myself to practice. I was wondering if I could borrow a room in maybe a church or something to go and practice..but I don't know how willing churches are to open their doors to teenagers who want to come in and practice their instrument. I was wondering if you think that churches would let someone like myself come in for perhaps an hour or two every once in a while...your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated, as I'm sure some of you have had the same problem I have. Or, if you have any other suggestions in regards to my "practice problem", they are welcome too!
3) And finally, I'm interested in writing music. I know this is a very general question...but I thought I would ask......Where do I start? I'm interested in arranging music for concert type bands. What do I start with? I know that is a really general question, but any help would be appreciated.
Again, I know these aren't really questions meant for VOCALIST...but I thought I would ask anyway, and I hope I didn't make anyone too angry.
Thanks a lot, all suggestions/comments are MORE than welcome.
Thanks, Kyle Richardson kylejr-at-hotmail.com
