My only caution regards a comment that Nancy made about firming up the abs. For singing, you don't want them to be TOO firm! They need to be *flexible*, not rock-hard -- do yoga rather than situps! Otherwise, yes, playing a wind instrument of any kind definitely helps singing, and vice-versa... from an old flute/oboe/clarinet/bari horn/bassoon player...
