Daniel,

One of the problems you'll face in singing much older roles, is that whoever
is hearing you will be mentally comparing you to someone of that age singing
it. Plus, there are other issues to overcome if you start singing older
characters, such as not having the physical presence of someone older.

On the other hand, you can use your more mature voice to your advantage: if
you sing roles appropriate for your age, but have clearly got a bigger voice
than required, you will impress them much more. Teachers and directors alike
always get really excited when they think they've found someone with great
potential. Then they can get the credit for bringing the potential out!

Always show 'em what you can do, not what you're going to be able to do.
