My vocal quality is not yet where I thought I was.

After every recital, when I finally get around to listening to the tape, I
have these same thoughts. It's not really a rude awakening anymore -- just
the ongoing-and-forever knowledge that I will never be where I want to be,
which is, of course, PERFECT! :)

Hang in there with your fine teacher and keep plugging away. If you get to
the point where you can give your audience an entertaining evening with a few
perfect moments, you will have "made it."
