Jeffrey,
Thanks for your observations...I do agree with you
that every baritone (and lower range male voices...
...aahh...what the heck...even higher range male voices)
should have this cycle in their rep. After all, Durand has
the cycle published in "voix elevees".
I purchased my set through Glendower Jones' outstanding
company: Classical Vocal Repertoire (Reprints).

As for the dedicatory information - each song is dedicated to a
different singer: Romanesque - Robert Couzinou, Epique -
Martial Singher and Boire - Roger Bourdin; but I'm not sure if
the entire opus was dedicated to Mssr. Singher.
Mssr. Singher's interpretation on vinyl is most enjoyable & I'll
add that the Van Dam/Boulez offerings are real satisfying.

I performed the cycle (moyenne) in recital on Sunday Nov 7 with much
satisfaction and I look forward to singing this work the rest of my days!
Somehow, I am also going to find Ravel's "Cinq Melodies
Populaires Grecques" and incorporate them to my rep as well.
